Abstract: |
I discuss effects of dense circustellar media on early emission of Type IIP
supernovae and their implications. Type IIP supernovae are explosions of red
supergiants. I focus on rise times of Type IIP supernovae. We performed
numerical light-curve modeling of red supergiant explosions within
circumstellar media and compared them to observations. We found that early
light curves of Type IIP supernovae can be generally better explained when
there are dense circumstellar media. Our results indicate that red supergiants
generally have high mass-loss rates in the final decades before their
explosions.
