Abstract: |
Over the past few years several projects relating to optics and adaptive optics for astronomy have been undertaken at the University of British Columbia, in collaboration with institutions in Canda, the US, Europe, India and China. These include the deveopment of several liquid-mirror telescopes, studies of mesopsheric sodium, laser guide star tests, remote sensing of atmospheric turbulence and site testing. My talk will provide and overview of these activities and highlight some of the challenges and sucesses.
